Alaskan Bowhunters Director at Large
Hello, my name is Steven Mertz and I live in Eagle River. I am a new board member (Director at Large). I moved to Alaska back in 1981. I was in the Navy and served in the Indian Ocean during the end of the Vietnam War.
I spent 29 years in law enforcement and I am now retired.
I took up bow hunting late in life (due to bad shoulders), but in 2002 I bought my first bow. I have been blessed hunting with the bow and I have taken some great animals. I have hunted in Canada, New Zealand, and Africa (twice so far) as well as the lower 48 and of course Alaska. I have harvested over 20 different animals throughout the world.
I have been associated with this organization for almost 20 years and I am looking forward to helping this organization in any way that I can and also helping the membership as well.
