My name is Herb Mansavage and I am 29 years old. I was born in Marshfield, WI but my parents moved back to Alaska months after my birth and I have lived in Alaska since. I graduated Wasilla High school in 2008, earned my Associates of Applied Science in Process Technology in 2011 and a Bachelors of Science in Technology in 2015, both from University of Alaska. I am an Assistant Buyer for sporting goods & firearms with Three Bears Alaska and have been with the company 3 1/2 years.
I currently serve on two boards, Backcountry Hunter & Anglers and the Matanuska Valley Fish & Game Advisory Committee. I have been with the Backcountry Hunters & Anglers for a little over a year now, serving as the Treasurer. I have been with the Matanuska Valley Fish & Game Advisory Committee for four years, serving the last two years as Chairman.
My interests revolve around the outdoors and I primarily focus on hunting then fishing. I began bowhunting around age 11 where I was able to hunt my dad's Whitetail property in WI several times. This sparked my obsession with bowhunting, and archery in general. Since then, especially in my late highschool and college years, I became extremely passionate about sheep hunting and have since harvested four mature rams and a recent unsuccessful, total heartbreaker on a big ram during the DS140 hunt in 2018. It was instilled at a young age to have patience for the big buck and passed on many opportunities at does and small bucks when I was growing up but it was always the adrenaline rush of being around animals so close and just watching their behaviors in nature that made me so addicted to bowhunting. I have taken a Whitetail buck, bull Moose and Mountain Goat billy with my bow so far, and have been more recently hunting primarily with the bow.
